Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 driver download

The Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 driver is a pain to find on the internets:

edit 7/28/09: Some people are having problems getting this webcam to run on windows Vista with 4GB+ ram. There is a hotfix for that here:

    @Aundre: This is a windows only driver as far as i know. I dont know anything about macs, sorry.

    :( on my computer when i click on the link it says "Oops! This link appears to be broken." and it always happens whenever i try to get onto the microsoft website.

    @anon: I am now hosting the driver on my server. try, ive added a link to it in the post. try that. if that doesnt work, you probably have something wrong with your computer. Use a friends computer and a thumbdrive to transfer the file to your computer.

    I have a problem i have downloaded the exe and ran the setup .... the installation appears and it completes but it restarts again ... this has happened 4 times already but the installation does not finish !!! Am i doing something wrong here ???

    will lead you to my 2mb DRIVERS ONLY upload, which I offer up in the hope that I can prevent some other poor sod going through the misery of downloading the bloated Microsoft crap. If you ONLY want the drivers, just unzip the file, plug in your webcam, when your system prompts for the software point it to your unzip location. When it stops for the final dll, remind it where it started. Job done.

    I have a VX-1000 and it does NOT work with the driver only download from http://programmingdrunk.com. I unzipped the drivers and pointed the hardware wizard at them. It immediately said that it could not find drivers. The only way I could get it working was go to back and let the wizard search the internet for drivers.

    Hello,I have a problem...i download the driver and wend I fallow the stepts for instalation its say this " Setup connot continue beacause you are not connected to the internet or the server is unavailable connect to the inter and then run setup again. During the setuup process accept any related security or firewall messages. If this is unsuccessful please try again later"
    The site of microsoft it's not working... any sugestions ?? PLS

    105 people who commented here seem to think it works. Its worked for me. try uninstalling your cam *fully* from device manager, unplug cam, restart and try this driver again. then plug the cam in and see

    After spending 3 hours on that crap Microsoft site, I did a Google search. Not only did this come up first, it actually worked. No fuss, no drama, just did what it said on the tin.
